Edinburgh · bespoke software

We build the software you can’t buy off the shelf.

A small studio for founders and SMEs who need a real system, not another subscription. We scope it in a week, build it in weeks, and hand you every key at the end.

What we do

Four ways this usually starts.

Not sure which? Ask us
From scratch

Build it from scratch

You have a process that spreadsheets stopped holding a year ago. We design it, build it, put it live, and show you how it works.

Half finished

Rescue a stalled build

Someone else started it and stopped answering. We read the code, tell you honestly what is worth keeping, then finish it.

Two systems

Join up your systems

Your CRM, your accounts package and your warehouse should be talking to each other. We make them, and we check every night that they still are.

Already live

Keep it running

Hosting, monitoring, backups you have actually restored from, and a named person who picks up when something breaks.

How we work

Three stages. No mystery in the middle.

Week 1

Scope

A written spec, a fixed price and a date. If we think you should not build it, we say so in week one, not month four.

Weeks 2 onwards

Build

Every fortnight there is something new you can click, on a real web address. Not a status report with a green tick on it.

Handover

Hand over

You get the lot. The code, the servers, the instructions, and an hour with whoever inherits it. Nothing held back as a hostage.

Outcomes

What “done” has actually meant.

Three numbers from three recent builds. Full write-ups are with the clients for sign-off — ask and we will walk you through whichever is closest to your problem.

Ask about yours

6min

to build a next-day run sheet, down from 95 minutes by hand.

£41k / yr

of manual invoice reconciliation removed from a finance team of three.

0days

of downtime across three switch-overs, including one on a Monday.

In their words

The bit we didn’t write.

PBF · Logistics

“They picked up six months of someone else’s half-finished code and had it in production in five weeks. It has not fallen over since.”

J. Hughes · Operations Director
LLD · Legal services

“First developers who told us what we did not need to build. That conversation saved us more than the project cost.”

T. Ponton · Managing Partner
CW Group · Manufacturing

“We had a working version in front of real customers before we had finished arguing about the logo.”

E. McCowen · Founder

Who you get

A studio, not an account manager.

The longer version

Burrito Development is a small Edinburgh team that builds line-of-business software for people who have outgrown the off-the-shelf version. The person who scopes your project is the person who writes the code and the person who answers the phone eighteen months later.

We work in the open: a shared board, a real web address from week two, and a weekly note that says what moved and what did not. Everything we build is yours — the code, the hosting, and the instructions for both — handed over at the end whether you keep working with us or not.

The name started as a joke about wrapping everything you need into one thing you can carry one-handed. It stuck, and the burrito in the logo has been leaking code ever since.

Tell us what’s broken.

A paragraph is plenty. If it is not something we should take on, we will say so and point you at someone who should.
